Acting Minister of Interior Affairs IEA met with the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations

In this meeting, Roza Otunbayeva, the special representative of the United Nations Secretary General, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior Affairs in the field of security and the fight against drugs and added that she met with the representatives of different countries and all of them agree that for the purpose of combating drugs and treating drug addicts, in addition to vocational training, necessary facilities should be provided to farmers for alternative livelihood.
Roza Otunbaeva said that, the return of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries has caused many problems to the refugees. She welcomed the efforts of the Islamic Emirate in managing the returning refugees and added that the international community is monitoring this process. According to her, the ruling system has been able to work successfully in the wake of incidents and manage them well. According to her, the Islamic Emirate has demonstrated good interaction with the international community in this process.


Acting Minister of Interior Affairs H.E. Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani said in this meeting that the Afghan government has created the necessary facilities for the returning refugees in various areas and assigned the task to various committees made up of employees from different departments in order to manage the affairs in an orderly manner. So far, with the help of the Almighty, significant help has been provided in handling the refugees and transporting them to their relatives and the process is still continuing successfully. 

H.E Khalifa said that the International peace, like the peace and stability of Afghanistan, is of particular importance to the Islamic Emirate, and the Islamic Emirate has taken necessary steps to treat its neighbors in a true and honest manner.

Mr. Haqqani emphasized that past problems and shortcomings should not be linked to the Islamic Emirate and also domestic issues of neighboring countries should not cause problems for Afghan refugees living abroad. The Acting Minister added that international parties should also support the efforts of the Islamic Emirate to control armed criminals. At the end of this meeting, Mr. Haqqani thanked the special representative of the Secretary General of UN for the cooperation in the fight against drugs in the country, cooperation with returning Afghan refugees and treatment of drug addicts.
