Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics Meets Head of UNODC Office
Al-Haj Sheikh Abdul Rahman Munir, Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics, met with Polleak Ok Serei, Head of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
During the meeting, the UNODC representative praised the achievements of the Deputy Ministry of Counter-Narcotics and assured continued cooperation, particularly in the provision of scanners. He also described the outcomes of the Afghan delegation’s participation in the CRIC meeting as positive, adding that efforts are underway to secure observer status for Afghanistan within the organization.
The Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics stated that the international community should take Afghanistan’s achievements in combating narcotics into consideration and increase assistance accordingly. He emphasized the need for advanced scanners to improve border control and noted that significant progress has been made in coordination with security and defense forces.
He further added that counter-narcotics personnel in the provinces have undertaken effective measures to eradicate narcotics, raise public awareness, and enforce the law.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening coordination and cooperation.
