The Counter-Narcotics Deputy Minister Biography
Deputy Minister Hashim Aurtaq was born in September 1955, in Faryab province of Afghanistan. he is a graduate of faculty of Engineering department of electricity of Kabul University. His career started as a member of Afghan National Security and from 1982 till 1998 he served in different positions including deputy director and later as National Security Director of Farah, Ghazni, Kabul, Balkh and Faryab provinces respectively. Between 1999 to 2002 due to political and security situation, migrated to neighboring Republic of Turkmenistan.
Post-Taliban regime and their collapse in Afghanistan, Mr. Aurtaq was reappointed National Security Director of Faryab province where he continued working till 2003. Resigning from his position he contested the polls and was elected member of Senate “Mishrano Jirga” from Faryab province and served till 2009.
He was again elected as member of parliament “Wolase Jirga” from Faryab province from 2010 to 2018.
From 2019 onward, Mr. Aurtaq is serving as Deputy Minister of Interior affairs heading the Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan “CNPA” and he is also in charge of the civilian side of the drugs fight after the merger of former Ministry of Counter Narcotics with Ministry of Interior affairs.
Deputy Minister Aurtaq is married and is living in Kabul with his wife and six children.
