Deputy Minister for Counter-Narcotics Meets UNAMA Political Head
The Ministry of Interior’s Deputy for counter_ Narcotics, Sheikh al-Hadith Haji Mawlawi Muhammad Qasim Khalid, met at his office in Kabul with Mr. Scott Smith, the Political Head of UNAMA, and his accompanying delegation.
At the beginning of the meeting, the UNAMA representatives welcomed the decree issued by His Exalted Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah preserve him) concerning the prevention of narcotics and praised the efforts made against illegal drugs.
The Counter_ Narcotics deputy welcomed the visiting delegation and stated that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has carried out a firm fight against narcotics and will not permit anyone to cultivate, traffic, buy, or sell illegal drugs.
Mr. Khalid added that treatment of addicts, prevention, vocational training, providing farmers with alternative crops, and international cooperation are all necessary in the fight against narcotics, because narcotics are not only an Afghan problem but a global one.
In conclusion, both sides expressed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the fight against narcotics.
