Minister of Interior Affairs-IEA, H.E. Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani met with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov

Minister of Interior Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, H.E. Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, met with H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with H.E. Ilham, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, and their accompanying delegation. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs for Security, Mawlawi Ibrahim Sadr, Deputy Minister Interior Affairs for Administration, Mawlawi Rahmatullah Najib, Deputy Minister Interior Affairs for Logistics, Mawlawi Abdullah Mukhtar, and several other senior officials.

Uzbek FM Bakhtiyor Saidov shared updates regarding meetings on the Trans-Afghan Railway Project and details of the signing of the trilateral agreement. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of this major regional project. He also highlighted the expansion of relations among Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan, the deepening of political, economic, and cultural cooperation, and noted that Uzbekistan’s exports and imports with Afghanistan had nearly tripled compared to the previous year. He expressed hope for further strengthening of ties between the two countries.

Mr. Saidov further stated that Uzbekistan supports the release of Afghanistan’s frozen assets, the resolution of Afghan refugee issues, and the active participation of the Afghan government in international forums.

Minister Haqqani warmly welcomed the Uzbek delegation and thanked them for their goodwill, constructive cooperation, and spirit of brotherhood toward the Afghan nation. He praised the progress of the Trans-Afghan Railway Project and expressed hope that it would become a key driver of economic growth for all involved nations.

He also reiterated Afghanistan’s desire to strengthen its political, economic, and cultural relations with Uzbekistan.
