Ministry of Interior Statement Regarding the Taliban’s Spring Offensive Against the Afghan People
The Taliban terrorist group once again began their Spring campaign against the Afghan people, killing seven innocent civilians in one cowardly attack alone in Kabul city this week.
In an official announcement, the Taliban admitted to committing these criminal acts under the name of Operation Alfarooq.
While again declaring war against the Afghan people, their government and constitution, the Taliban insurgents also abuse their religious values in the name of a cause opposed to the basic Islamic principles of peace, education and kindness. They threatened to kill all Afghan government employees, including those who cooperate with the elected government in any way and they show no remose for innocent civilian casualties.
The Taliban openly admit as the weather gets warmer and the summer season approaches, they will actively target representative of the National Council, Peace Council members, ethnic and tribal leaders and finally any Afghan civilians that dare to oppose their minority viewpoint promoting needless violence.
The Afghan Ministry of Interior serves as a representative and servant to the Afghan people. Every day our Afghan National Policemen, firemen, border patrol officers and local police demonstrate their patriotic courage and commitment to protect and serve our people in often dangerous situations. We recognize the Taliban message of hatred and fear as poisonous to our country and endangering our future happiness.
Unfortunately, their propaganda and intimidation against simple people is not new to Afghanistan or the world community. We have worked very hard with our international partners through cooperation to build up our country and good governance. The Taliban and other insurgent groups under foreign influence have short and long-term goals to prevent Afghanistan’s development. They twist holy religious values to justify their crimial activities and in the process have killed thousands of innocent people.
The Afghan Ministry of Interior condemns the Taliban’s propaganda that spreads fear and mistrust.
The Afghan National Police is stronger now than ever before in our nation’s history. We are ready and honored to stand against foreign mercenaries to protect lives, property and Afghanistan’s territorial integrity.
We believe in our ability to defeat attacks by the Taliban, whose own tactics have adapted to mainly suicide bombers and Improvised Explosive Devices that kill and disfigure innocent people everyday. They seem to have no concern for human life and dignity but only wish to attain power for themselves, no matter the cost.
Hazrat Umar Farooq was one the Prophet Mohammad’s companions, with a reputation for justice and fairness throughout the Muslim world. The Afghan Ministry of Interior believes using the this great and compassionate Islamic leader’s name for insurgency activity clearly violates the principles of Islam in a way that brings tragedy and sadness to our country.
We call on the people of Afghanistan to help us defeat the Taliban and other foreign insurgent groups by reporting suspicious or criminal activities. Together, we will defeat them and create a society with security, freedom and opportunity for all.
